Pre-race routine:

First triathlon. got ok sleep. got to race early and parked close. had a pb and j sandwich with water and gatorade. felt good. no nerves.
Event warmup:

did some stretching and a quick light swim to get used to the water with my wetsuit on. feeling good.

First open water swim ever, didnt know what to expect. stayed back and to the outside. went well, after first turn got comfortable and got in a rythm. swam smooth and was very happy with passing some people.
What would you do differently?:

go out harder, more confident now.

borrowed a 1997 hybrid bike. was rough not smooth. course was decent pretty challenging. definitely need at least an entry level road bike. got a flat at the end of course.
What would you do differently?:

buy a road bike. train more on bike.

ITBS flared and i shut it down. wanted to finish but not do any damage. shut it down about 1 mile in. walked most of the rest of the way. dissapointed but it happens.
What would you do differently?:

stretch more prior to event. train more for run and get itbs treated at a specialty clinic.

Warm down:

great set up of food and drink. pictures and hugs with family.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

ITBS flaring in my right knee

will do it again next year. had a good time. good race for a 1st timer.
