Swim
  • 27m 48s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 41s / 100 yards
Comments:

Nice, relatively uneventful, got caught in some kelp several times at the beginning, but got into my groove, maintained consistent breathing every other stroke. Stayed on a pretty good line, may have got some drafting in there. Must have had a good current, as time was about 10 mins faster than last year.

Transition 1
  • 07m 5s
Comments:

about a minute faster than last year, told myself to work through transitions faster. was considerably further ahead, as I was already on my bike as the leader passed.
Bike
  • 1h 45m 28s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 14.14 mile/hr
Comments:

Ugh, didn't train enough on the bike this year. Had to stop at the beginning a couple of times as my bike started making a strange noise and was like the brakes were rubbing. Checked brakes and tires (thought I blew out a tire), all was good so I started off again, but noise and rubbing was still there. So stopped again a few hundred feet away, and checked again, turns out a helmet number sticker was stuck in my brakes, so fixed that and got moving again. Ride was rather tough this year as i didn't train as much on the bike as I should have.
What would you do differently?:

Ride my bike more.
Transition 2
  • 04m 41s
Comments:

3 or so minutes faster than last year. Wore "normal" running shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Make sure to check on nutrition in pockets.
Run
  • 1h 38m 18s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 15m 50s  min/mile
Comments:

Just wasn't feeling it. Found a couple of gals walking and joined them. Feet were a bit numb at the beginning, but worked out later. Combo of run and walk, though mostly walking.
What would you do differently?:

Run more in training try to run more in race.
Post race
Event comments:

Post race activity---got my hair cut after the race. Cost of cut went to CAF. Stylist got a detangling workout, as my hair was pretty knotted up as it usually is after a race.
