Comments:

I thought I swam and sighted really well, and felt like I was swimming fast and strong. There were some incredible swimmers in my wave who set off on 1:15/100yd pace right away and stayed there. Amazing to watch, the talent level was much higher than I have seen before.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 02m 48s
Comments:

My suit ripped on the heel when I put it on, so it just took longer to get off. Decided against clipping shoes in due to terrain, also took time to put on arm warmers. Not speedy, but I was fine with it.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, conditions were promising to be bad on the bike and I wanted a good ride, so I prepared accordingly.
Bike
  • 1h 10m 11s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 21.25 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a great ride, even with the rain storm we all had to put with, which took us MOP guys an extra 4 or 5 minutes due to technical sections being slick. Lost a minute to chain coming off on a hill again.
What would you do differently?:

Nada, maybe lose 10 lbs? I rode well.
Transition 2
  • 01m 50s
Comments:

Poor direction at the end of the bike course and rode by the entrance to the TA. My fault though. Stopped to ingest a Gu, which was my fault for forgetting on the bike. Saw 5 bikes from my AG on the rack, so my race dreams were over, time to enjoy this place!
Run
  • 50m 55s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 08m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

I walked through the aid stations, and was running at a 7:40 pace for the second half, which I am psyched about. My best run this year in a race, I am happy.
What would you do differently?:

Just keep training the way I have been this summer, started making huge gains.
Post race
Warm down:

Collapse in the sun that was coming out.

Event comments:

Epic, really. This course deserves the accolades it receives. I put together a great performance for where I am at, and I felt very happy with this being my last event of the year. Amazing venue. Highly recommended, although I won't be back due to it being pretty far from home, this was a one-off.

Course: Most beautiful swim ever, really. Anyone worried about the water temperature shouldn't really. It's refreshing, not cold, and I was wearing a sleeveless wettie. Being an inlet, there were no waves, and negligible current.
