Swim
Comments: didn't think anything could be worse than 2011, but lo and behold, it was. What would you do differently?: swim in a pool. (train more in open water, and get a snorkel) Transition 1
Comments: pretty good transition, was a bit light-headed from the swim. 08 seconds faster in transition from 2010's What would you do differently?: remember to buckle helmet immediately (the Nazi's at the transition wouldn't let you leave without it buckled Bike
Comments: good ride, but couldn't find a race buddy - i had a few triathlete pros pass me (the kind with the Cervelo aero / tri bikes, Zipp wheels + aeodynamic helmets); and ended up passing quite a few people, but would have liked someone to push me a bit harder, particularly on the way back facing into the 20+ mph headwind. What would you do differently?: buckle helmet, ride harder right off the bat in the beginnning... Transition 2
Comments: new cycling shoes, with a tricky gizmo on the top strap made getting out of them a bit slow, but generally not a bad transition, even had time to grab a handful of fruit loops.... What would you do differently?: start to unbuckle shoes while still on bike Run
Comments: i thought i was running faster than my time showed. huge headwind heading up to lake. not too bad of a run, could have gone another mile or two! What would you do differently?: train more Post race
Warm down: siad hi to kids, awaited wife's finish, had a hot dog and beer afterwards What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. lack of training 2. Crazy F*^(*^ing ocean Event comments: the Dewey Beach Sprint Tri is a great race and a lot of fun! Last updated: 2012-09-18 12:00 AM
