Event warmup:

Got up, ate, and met friends at their hotel close to start line. Rode bike in dark to start line.

Comments:

I'm so glad I did the full 100 the first time I attempted it. They started pulling everyone off the road shortly after I reached the 90 mile rest stop, so I'm glad I didn't mess around too much at the rest stops.

If I go back it will probably be to just do the ride with my friends - probably stick to the 100K or something. The scenery wasn't pretty, the wind sucked and there's absolutely nothing special about Wichita Falls. The highlight of the ride was riding through Sheppard AFB and having all the cadets lined-up cheering me on and giving high fives. That's something I'll never forget!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing - I picked a good year to go. It was cool and overcast until about 11am, so I took advantage of that to make some good time before the sun and heat made an appearance.
Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm still overweight. I'm still relatively new to road biking.

Event comments:

It was on my bucket list. Can mark it off now.

The time above includes rest stops. I had my garmin - I averaged over 15mph on the ride minus rest stops.
Wind: Strong with gusts
Course: A few rollers. Had everyone going over cattle guards??!? Some of the road was shaking me so badly I couldn't see where I was going. A lot of people didn't like the new course.
