Run
Comments: split is plausible, but suspect course short by a smidge. had no timing/GPS of my own to say one way or the other. might've taken first mile out too hot, as legs got heavy by the turnaround. What would you do differently?: train more Transition 1
Comments: seems a tad slow, but I was also putting everything on with gloved hands What would you do differently?: nothing Bike
Comments: went by my main competition pretty early, which was a surprise (fighting a sinus infection...very little training last 2wks). got within a minute of leader and could see him on the longer straightaways but never could close the gap. effort level was a little light (went for extreme aero position, so power suffered). What would you do differently?: train more. use my disk. Transition 2
Comments: best split in field What would you do differently?: nothing Run
Comments: again, pace is plausible but still think course was a smidge short. friend had it at 0.97mi. went by so fast...I was just starting to feel "normal" again off the bike when it was all over. What would you do differently?: train more Post race
Warm down: N/A What limited your ability to perform faster: sinus infection, training lapses Event comments: RACC puts on a great show. chx soup on a cold day is the killer app. definitely a course for the stronger bikers in terms of distancse and difficulty, as I'll be the first to admit I wouldn't finish this high otherwise. Drive up, set up.
Couple of short runs with some accelerations, plus a short ride (1-2mi) to check out cold weather gear choices.
