Pre-race routine:

Oatmeal with raisin and whey powder, OJ. Drove to Fairfield subdivision.
Event warmup:

swam a 100 and stretched a little. Early in the day it was cool with a breeze, so standing around waiting to go I got cold.
Swim
  • 06m 24s
  • 328 yards
  • 01m 57s / 100 yards
Comments:

The pool was nice. It was slightly heated, though you'd never know but it likely kept the temperature just right. The pool start was a staggered start with a person going every 15 seconds. It worked good early as no backups occured before I went, though I heard later there was congestion with the swimmers backing up at points. No swim caps were given for this event.
What would you do differently?:

They needed a bit more organization with the swim. We were lined up by swim time and it eventually sorted itself out.
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

T1 went fine. It was a moderately long run from the pool to the parking lot for transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I thought I went faster than 1:43, but I slowed down trying to catch my breath plus I had to carry my bike around to go down another aisle as a guy was plopped down in the middle of our aisle putting on a pair of biking shorts.
Bike
  • 31m 15s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.20 mile/hr
Comments:

I thought I went faster than this!
What would you do differently?:

Keep pedaling!
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

I slowed down a bit going into T2 - I had pushed it a little extra during the bike and I was pretty tired through T2.
Run
  • 33m 27s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 10m 27s  min/mile
Comments:

I had to walk a couple of times. My legs were tired from a good bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked and got a few drinks.

Event comments:

The breakfast was awesome!! Pancakes and freshly made Breakfast tacos. There was lots of extra goodies to eat, too! They had very good volunteers as well.

Course: I LOVED this run course!! It was a tree-shaded run most of the time through the Fairfield subdivision. There were nice breezes at times. Only for the last mile did it get out of the shade trees.
