Usual breakfast of quinoa with brown sugar & cinnamon with a little non-dairy milk (today it was soy).
Event warmup:

Did about a 2.5 mile warm up. Last few minutes I threw in three 20 sec sprints.

Comments:

We started out going south with a head wind that made it feel like it was windier than it was and I felt like I started way too fast. My pace didn't slow too much during the race, but it sure felt like I slowed. Bobby Miller wasn't too far back and kept me moving pretty hard.
What would you do differently?:

NOT START SO HARD.
Post race
Warm down:

Stood around coughing. That cold air really dries out your throat. Then cheered on some of the finishers. I waited until Carin finished--she PR'd by running 26:16. That's 29 seconds faster than the Spirit run just 3 weeks ago!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm a little de-conditioned since I haven't raced since Sept 30. Last year at this time I had about 3 or 4 fall 5k-5 mile races in before the Turkey Trot. Last years time was 17:55, so not a lot slower this year, but it hurt A LOT MORE this time.

Event comments:

Great small town race with a ton of support including 3 other ACTIVE AMBASSADORS: Sherry Gerhardt Sonnenberg (CLIF Bar), Lori Juette Yokiel (Snickers Marathon Bar), Bobby Miller (Gillette). Andy Klein DC and staff put on a great event every year!
