Comments: First 500 yds were misery. I couldn't get y breathing right and was getting pounded by the large wave start. Chalking up it up to first race of the year jitters. What would you do differently?: Get better position of the start line... further away from the mayhem. Get into normal breathing (every other stroke) pattern sooner rather than breathing every stroke. Transition 1
Comments: Felt good about this one, especially with it being the first of the season. Bike
Comments: The bike felt awesome... even though it was raining. I felt very strong on the hills and no one in my age group passed me throughout the course. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Felt fast on this one too. Only hiccup was tying one of my shoes... had to start over. What would you do differently?: Look into speed laces. Run
Comments: Best bike-to-run feeling I've had in a while. Held a good pace for the first 4 miles or so. Let too many people in my age group pass me in the last half mile. Lost 3 places alone in the last .2. Arg. What would you do differently?: Work on red-lining the last bit. Push through the pain. Post race
Event comments: Another great year at Columbia. Even though the weather wasn't all that great there were an unbelievable amount of volunteers out on the course, in transition, and at the food tent after. This is definitely a top-tier event. Last updated: 2012-10-01 12:00 AM
