Pre-race routine:

I ate a protein bar, a bagel and had a cup of coffee about three hours prior to the start. After getting set-up in transition I had a gel 30mins prior to the start. Started to think about the race and how I want to start out very easy in the swim.
Event warmup:

Swam a couple of 500yd sets very easy.
Swim
  • 29m 35s
  • 1640 yards
  • 01m 48s / 100 yards
Comments:

I purchased new goggles WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I could see!! I came out easy , maybe too easy but I just wanted to swim the whole swim. Siting was good. I feel this was a much better swim than my last race. I will try to improve upon this next race.
What would you do differently?:

Swim a little harder the last 500yds or so.
Transition 1
  • 02m 22s
Comments:

The rain and the mud kinda slowed down my transition. It was VERY muddy!!!
What would you do differently?:

Learn how to get into shoes while their on the bike. Right now I put them on first.
Bike
  • 1h 26m 55s
  • 27.34 miles
  • 18.87 mile/hr
Comments:

I could have gone a little harder, conditions were wet and having never raced in the rain I wanted to be somewhat cautious.
What would you do differently?:

Not much I can think of.
Transition 2
  • 02m 1s
Comments:

Socks were soaked had to rip off socks and run with no socks.
What would you do differently?:

SPEED LACES!! Tying wet laces is very problematic!!
Run
  • 49m 33s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 59s  min/mile
Comments:

This was a good run. the last 4.5 miles I just let myself run without worrying about HR. The olympic distance races are now my favorite!!
What would you do differently?:

Ran harder the first mile or so, I had my legs at about the half mile mark but stayed maybe a little conservitive.
Post race
Warm down:

Had a bannana at the finish, walked around to cool down. It was raining pretty good by this time. Light stretching , then some free food .

What limited your ability to perform faster:

If anything the weather.

Event comments:

Great race orginization!! I will do this race again next year!!
