Swim
Comments: My plan was to start off easy since there was no time for warm up. I caught a elbow to the my face about 1/4 of the way during the swim. I wasn't expect contact this late into the swim. I had to stop and fix my goggles back on my face. I had no more issues after that and had a good swim. I picked up the pace at the end. What would you do differently?: I felt good after the swim so I could have pushed it a little more Transition 1
Comments: I took my time in T1. took two bites of powerbar, drink some Heed and wiped off feet to put on bike shoes. What would you do differently?: I could have done T1 quicker but my race plan was to finish and enjoy race. So I didn't push myself and have trouble later. Bike
Comments: My goal was to stay in my target heart rate zones and not get caught up with the hammerheads. I think I did a good job with this plan. I passed a whole lot of people and felt good during the entire ride. I loved passing people on hills. My time could have been better but I stopped at the third aid station to refill my water container and heed bottle. Again this was planned instead of discarding my bottle. What would you do differently?: Change water bottle cage to avoid stopping in next race. Maybe push the bike a little harder but not too much more. Transition 2
Comments: My plan was to wear socks which I never do for short races. Again I had no thoughts on placing so my plan was comfort. I ate some chomps and drink fluid. What would you do differently?: Maybe go without socks on next HIM. I had a blister anyway on one foot. Run
Comments: My goal was to avoid cramps and again stay in Heart rate zones. I ran the entire run except in aid stations. I walked in the aid station to drink, eat oranges or bannas. Loved seeing my family on the course cheering me on. Great feeling crossing the finish line under my goal time. What would you do differently?: Push the run more. Goal was to avoid cramps on my first HIM and I was able to do the run feeling good. Post race
Warm down: Drink water, streched and walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Concern over tole the HIM would take on my body for my first HIM. Event comments: volunteers were awesome. The race was great and it is my favorite race out of all the races I have done. Great, Great, Great race. Last updated: 2012-10-03 12:00 AM

Got up and ate a power bar with some water and a small coke. Shaved and took a quick shower. I felt good but a little worried about fighting the traffic with so many people in this race. largest race I ever entered.
Not much time to warm up because of the slow going with the buses. I had about 10 minutes to get my wet suit on before the race started. I thought getting to the race area at 5:30 AM would be okay but I was wrong. Having to get family in place and get myself to transition area was tough.
