Swim
Comments: I held myself back and did more breast stroke than originally planned. Being my first event I was more concerned with finishing. What would you do differently?: Spend more time doing crawl instead of breast stroke. Transition 1
Comments: Took my time drying off a bit and changing from rash guard into t-shirt. Had a brief moment of confusion with my socks thinking they were on upside down. What would you do differently?: Not dry off as much, wear a tri-suit/top so I don't have to change shirts. Bring socks with marked heels so I don't think they are backwards! Bike
Comments: Settled in for a comfortable ride, didn't push myself too hard. Riding a hybrid bike I was passed frequently by those on tri/road bikes. Had a fun little race with another rider on a hybrid, passing each other as we alternated up and down hills. What would you do differently?: Push harder on the start/finish hill now that I know them better. Upgrading to a road bike will speed up my bike time dramatically. Transition 2
Comments: Had a slight cramp in my right calf as I twisted my foot out of my pedals. When I put my racing belt (with run number) on I tried to buckle it behind my back catching my shirt a few times. What would you do differently?: Stretch legs a bit on the bike leading up to T2. Buckle race belt in front then turn it around. Run
Comments: The steep hill forced me to walk as I have not trained running on hills much at all. I was able to stride up the hill with long strides so I kept a reasonable pace. What would you do differently?: Train on hills! Push myself a bit more on the flats. Post race
Warm down: Stretching my legs followed by fruit and pasta! What limited your ability to perform faster: Holding myself back on my first event. Event comments: Excellent event for my first Tri. It wasn't too crowded so I was able to relax and just enjoy the event. Last updated: 2012-10-04 12:00 AM
