Swim
Comments: what a mad thrash. i have been in easier open water events.must of passed at least ten people. i was in the 8:30 slot and finished 8:43 was very happy with my time considering having to slow for traffic. but then again if i was not challenged i wouldn't be doing this. What would you do differently?: nothing, overall happy with my time.i take that back i would have pee'd one more time while waiting in line. i had to go soooo bad before starting the swim only to become my enemy through the race. Transition 1
Comments: t1 and t2 were included in the bike time. What would you do differently?: nothing, didn't practice my transitions much before this race. not the fastest but overall pretty smoth Bike
Comments: this course was almost a mile longer than claimed. would not have affected my place i just really felt the extra time and my body weight on the hills.should have gone straight out of transition on to the main road. i don't know why all the twisties through the parking lot. What would you do differently?: LOOOOSE WEIGHT!!!!!! this was by far my heaviest race weight. thank god a little experience got me through. really felt the extra weight on the hills. Transition 2
Comments: did i mention i had to pee? tried three times on the bike going downhill. would get up to speed, stand up, and NOTHING. TRIED ON EVERY LOOP. this is all i can think about at this point. must of been stage fright. What would you do differently?: pee before the swim Run
Comments: ok it's time . found a spot off the run path in the desert and pee'd in a bush for what must of been at least 3 minutes straight, countless runners passing me. who cares i'm finaly peeing. finished the run at below average pace. again my weight playing a big role. (no punn intended) What would you do differently?: pee before the swim and loose weight Post race
Warm down: walked around and re fueled with provided snacks What limited your ability to perform faster: my weight and my bladder Event comments: again the run was almost 1/4 mile longer. i don't mind the longer distance just include it in the race description so i can adjust my goal times.great venue and well run.i will be back next year. plenty of fluids and and a little food. banana, bagel, gel, etc. got there pretty early so was able to set up my transition with a good spot and allowed for plenty of time to remember anything i may have missed. did i mention i was cold and could not get warmed up. was really looking forward to the sunrise.
just tried to stay moving and keep warm. many trips to the bathroom. fluids caught up to me.
