Swim
Comments: Navigation is easy with painted lines on the bottom. I had no one to draft off of. I doubt the university women's swim team would have appreciated me jumping in to one of their practice lanes. I don't mind being in the paper, but it's not going to be for that. What would you do differently?: Learn to swim. We've been over this. Transition 1
Comments: This isn't exactly a situation conducive to a speedy transition. We're leaving our vehicle in a lot, drying off completely, making sure the watch catches the satellite, dealing with the locker room. I'm surprised I did it under 20 minutes. What would you do differently?: A full transition spot outside would probably, again, get me in the paper for less than stellar reasons. Bike
Comments: By my candence you can tell I am a gear masher. I hope to change that this winter with TrainerRoad's virtual power and my Cycleops fluid2 trainer. What would you do differently?: Ride a Harley. Transition 2
Comments: Home sweet home. What would you do differently?: Not drink pumpkin egg nog with knob creek, or captain and coke the night before. But you know, when your very very good friends decide to move to Nebraska after 8 years here, you take the time to say goodbye properly, and if that means helping to empty a freezer of booze, well then race or not, you show up to that party, and you bartend for the masses, and you see to it that it is empty! (Pretty sure this affected the whole race, not just T2.) Run
Comments: Beautiful day, my legs ached and I look like a patient doing the thorazine shuffle. As someone once observed me at mile 7 of an 8 mile run, right after the worst hill around here "I saw you running the other day. Well, it wasn't quite running, but you weren't walking." - Nailed it. That's me on every single run. What would you do differently?: The last glass of pumpkin egg nog. OK maybe that wasn't necessary. Post race
Warm down: Lots of tea, as I didn't take any liquid on the run. Shower. Contemplated getting in the car to drive out and find Meg and see if she was ok, but my legs convinced me she was a grown up and had her phone, so just let it alone and lay down already. She'll find her way home. What limited your ability to perform faster: We're still doing this question? OK then, the years 1996-2010. How's that? I realize that is primarily the years of the Bush administration. Can I still blame Bush for my obesity? Cause that would be awesome. I've been blaming little debbie. I should have known it was Bush. Or Gingrich. Now that I think about it, Bush likes to work out. My money is on Gingrich. Giant-headed philandering Gingrich. I'm sorry, where were we? Event comments: I have heard rumors that 2013 may see open registration, but we're not yet sure what that will look like. Hmmm, comments.... anything else then? Sure. I think pinterest is missing most of the male market. I think we need a site called "Dude check this out." Guys would actually use it. Was that the kind of comment you're looking for? Pretend to help Meg get the kids on the schoolbus, then load the car with bicycles. It doesn't feel like a race day. It's Monday. Am I doing this?
