Swim
  • 06m 38s
  • 437 yards
  • 01m 31s / 100 yards
Comments:

Passed 2, got passed by two
What would you do differently?:

Forgot to set my watch at the start. Tried to do it during the swim at a wall and lost a few seconds.
Transition 1
  • 02m 42s
Comments:

Very cold morning. Race officials allowed us to take a towel and shoes and socks into a tunnel leading from the pool to transition. I dried off pretty well before exiting due to the cold.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 32m 47s
  • 10 miles
  • 18.30 mile/hr
Comments:

I pushed it pretty hard, thighs were burning so geared down a little. I couldn't produce the power I was hoping for even on a flat course. This is my weak leg.
What would you do differently?:

Train more
Transition 2
  • 00m 28s
Comments:

I use a bike with toe cages so no shoe change, and a fast T2.
Run
  • 24m 8s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Passed by 2, passed a couple in T2 and 3 on the run. The course was almost completely flat, some stretches of cross country between sidewalks. Started to feel tired about mile 2 but rallied and passed 2 in the last mile. Finally caught contestant 729, the guy who started the swim just ahead of me in the last mile after stalking him for 2 miles. Felt good about passing a 19 year old kid from Purdue (my alma mater's arch-rival)
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of family was there so nothing much

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Need more bike speed and endurance. Need to be able to run at closer to my best at the end of a tri.

Event comments:

The race director has never sent in race results for this event so beware if you plan on using the results toward a USAT ranking. I received an email response, but still no results.
This was a first year event. Better than average swag. Only bagels, bananas, and water after the race. Very quick to show results at the race and posted them the same afternoon which is really cool.
Some hiccups with volunteers not knowing what was going on and race director and race officials not being on the same page. Got to expect some of that for a first time event. Overall a promising future for this event.
