Comments: This was my very first long distance run race so I didn't really know what to expect. The first 7 miles I ran at about a 7.20 pace and felt pretty good so I decided to turn it up a notch and the last 6 miles I ran around a 7.00 to 7.05 pace. Miles 11 and 12 were brutal for me and hurt but I pushed through and finished. I came in under my goal time and was happy with my time as I only trained for about 4 weeks for this race. What would you do differently?: Nothing I can think of for being my first long distance race. Post race
Warm down: Stretched out a little and drank some Gatorade. Grabbed a Muscle Milk and banana and headed for home. What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training. Event comments: This was my first long distance race and I was very impressed with how well it was organized. If I race in a half again I would definitely race in the GR marathon! Woke up, showered, and ate some peanut butter and jelly toast. I arrived at the race venue a little early and stayed in my vehicle because it was chilly out.
Did some light stretching and a light jog before the race kicked off. Tried to stay warm!!
