Pre-race routine:

Only got about 4 hours of sleep in before the race. Woke up, showered to loosen up, then headed out to the race about 4:45. Ate a bit and hung out in the Convention Center until it was time to head to the Corral.
Event warmup:

Walking from the convention center to the starting area.
Run
  • 2h 00m 19s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

This was my first running event (started doing Triathlons earlier this year). Went easy the first 6 miles, (about 9:20mm) and picked it up. Was having trouble getting into a grove because there were so many people.
What would you do differently?:

Could have gone out a bit harder and made up those 19 seconds somewhere. The most important goal was to negative split, secondary goal was to break 2 hours. Oh well.
Post race
Warm down:

Walking around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The humidity!

Event comments:

Fun race, it was incredibly humid. That had me a little hesitant in the early stages of the run. Can't wait to do this race again next year.

Course: There was a hill around mile 11 that was not much to my liking, but not anything terrible. My GPS had the course about .18 long, but I'm sure the GPS was off. I thought I was closer to the finish than I was, otherwise I could have paced myself a bit better at the end instead of thinking I had about a 2 minute cushion.
