Swim
Comments: took my time. i did a very slow swim because i wanted to be fresh for bike. 1st HIM did not know what to expect. followed coaches advise. Lots of people swimming on top of me. over aggressive swimmers. I stayed to the outside. What would you do differently?: nothing, went as planned Transition 1
Comments: I was fresh coming out of swim. plan was working, felt great. there was a lot of mud in transition. Bike looked like a mountain bike What would you do differently?: nothing, took my time Bike
Comments: great course. I wanted to get my heart rate down to a low z2 for the first 1/2 hour staying with my plan. lots of people passed me. after first 1/2 hour picked it up and had a great negative split. Held back to save legs for run. I think I could have pushed maybe 20 mph and still felt the same. lost speed & distance info on garmin. was covered with mud. went just with HR What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: BIKE STUCK IN MUD!! feet were drenched had to change socks. took longer then i wanted to What would you do differently?: go faster Run
Comments: This is where it fell apart. I wanted to stay at a 10:30 pace the first half then pick it up the second half. I felt great off the bike my plan was working. My feet were still damp and I got the biggest blister on my left foot. I thought my PF came back. it was like running on lava. It was so painful I just kept going. Then the heat and humidity kicked in. tough run for me. I am embarrassed of this run What would you do differently?: lube feet? I don't know? will take suggestions Post race
Warm down: met Andy Potts when crossed finish line. He gave me my finisher medal and took a picture. It was great!! Waited for my wife to cross What limited your ability to perform faster: blister on foot Event comments: Volunteers were great. The announcer was fantastic.
