Comments:

I felt pretty good for 13 miles. at about 14 I started to feel a little fatigued. at 16 I was hurting (mainly right knee). at 18 I saw my family and surged for teh mile detour through the stadium back to where they were watching. then i SLOWED down. at some point the 3:20 pace group went by -i missed them. when the 3:25 group came by with 4 miles to go I was shocked and a little sad. i struggled to keep up with them. i was really willing myself to run for the last couple miles.
What would you do differently?:

i know it was lack of training coupled with overoptimistic time goals that did me in.

I need to set attainable goals.

next year: 3:15 - 3:20 goal.
Post race
Warm down:

i walked a mile or so. I rode a mile.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training. pacing -too fast first half.

Event comments:

Though I missed my time goals, I consider this a succesful race. It was my first marathon in 5 years and I had been injured limiting my training prior to last couple months.

Course: the new course was still pretty flat. there were sections that spectators were sparse. overall pretty good. the biggest problem with the course was something sold as a benefit - teh detour though the south end of the Oval. It forced several extra tight turns and anded a down ramp followed by an up ramp.
