Swim
Comments: Felt strong first half, then hyperventilated and took on some water as the swell washed over my mouth a few times. Exhausted coming out of the water, and running up the sand was painful. What would you do differently?: Chill out, train more in open ocean conditions, get better goggles, work of right side breathing. Chill . . . Transition 1
Comments: had a hard time putting my shirt on while walking to mount zone. shoes on so easily, as was helmet and glasses. terrible cramp in calf about 2 miles in, slowed me way down for a while. What would you do differently?: wear shirt under wetsuit, run with bike, eat more bananas pre-race. Bike
Comments: knowing course now, and hopefully avoiding a cramp, easily 2.5 minutes there to get, maybe next year. Think I can break 27 What would you do differently?: train more, longer distances, and some sprint work. wear one piece or not worry about shirt or get a running belt Transition 2
Comments: great trans for me, first time esp. five guys at rack when I got there, five guys there when I left. Rack, helmet off, shoes off, shoes on, gone. What would you do differently?: run with bike Run
Comments: very sore and still first mile, but passed 20 people, a lot of 30 somethings.took a long time to loosen up. strong last mile. very hard running in soft sand after cement! Just don't fall down!!!! What would you do differently?: work on transition from riding to running so run can start faster. run more distance training Post race
Warm down: grind to a complete halt after finish line. exhausted, exhilarated, satisfied. What limited your ability to perform faster: swallowing too much ocean water, hyperventilating in swim, severe cramp in calf during ride, general soreness of body from ride to run. Event comments: will come back b/c I will be in better shape next year and believe I left 10 minutes on the course and maybe 2 in the TA. Loved getting the first one under my belt, so buzzed afterwards still am. Last updated: 2012-10-11 12:00 AM

First triathlon! Coffee, pumpkin bread, banana. Not sure of parking and no info so I drove around and was getting freaked but found a lot. Should have planned better. Rack pretty full and couple of space hogs in the transition area.
Not much, listened to announcements, waited for my wave (5th), some swell and we were swimming into the current south to north.
