Pre-race routine:

woke up.. got stuff together.. drove to race... at a powerbar and drank water..

Event warmup:

didn't warm up much.. just maybe 1 mile on the bike to make sure it was riding ok and loosen up a little.
Swim
  • 09m 58s
  • 581 yards
  • 01m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

I probalby hit the swim harder than i should have but i had fun and like that i was the 2nd clyde out of the water :)
My time was over a minute longer than last year probably due to the course being a little longer and my swim being much stronger last year. they dude out of the water before me did it in 7:12 SMOKIN...
What would you do differently?:

probably nothing.. I think i did a good job of trying to get my heart rate down early in the bike so i don't think that the hard swim hurt anything.
Transition 1
  • 01m 36s
Comments:

I didn't try and rush myself here.. I've found that if i try and rush though transions that my heart rate will sometimes jump and i'd rather be deliberate(probably mispelled that) and careful and fresher for the bike.
What would you do differently?:

nothing really .. the only thing holding me back during transitions is me still putting socks and shoes on before running to the mount line.. don't think i'm gonna change that anytime soon though.
Bike
  • 1h 01m 48s
  • 18 miles
  • 17.48 mile/hr
Comments:

i was a little concerned about the hills on the back of this course but they weren't as bad as i was expecting. the downhills were much more fun than the uphills were bad so that helped :) i really need to work on this part of my tris though.. have the most room to improve here.. next year i'm going for a 20+ avg..
What would you do differently?:

nothing really.. i thought i rode pretty smartly (i like to make up new words) i'm just slow on the bike..
Transition 2
  • 00m 55s
Comments:

see T1 comments..
What would you do differently?:

nothing really..
Run
  • 27m 55s
  • 3 miles
  • 09m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

this is when it got HOT...
i felt the run was pretty good but the last half mile hurt really badly. about 1 mile left i spotted two clydes in front of me that i tried to reel in but i didn't have enough juice left.. need to train more.. i'm pretty pleased with my time though. my run has improved a lot from last year.. same run course and i was 3 minutes faster this year. and that is with a tougher bike course too. can't complain about that. i was worried that my half mary in december wasn't going to help all that much because i haven't really been training as much as i should be but after my last two races i can really really tell the difference. yeah me :)
What would you do differently?:

not too much.

Post race
Warm down:

walked around and drank water and ate orange slices, bananas and pizza.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

lack of consistant training and my fat arse..

Event comments:

fantastic race with TONS of great volunteers..
each water station had probalby 15 people working it.. it was great and everyone was very supportive..
