Age Group Rank = 3/5
Pre-race routine:

Cliff bar, multivitiman, and Hammer endurolites.
Event warmup:

Stretching and slow bike to the transition.
Swim
  • 39m 12s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 23s / 100 yards
Comments:

My goggles kept fogging up. I need to find some anti-fog. My goal time was 40 min.
What would you do differently?:

Get goggle anti-fog. Train a little more to drop to 35 mins or under.
Transition 1
  • 03m 40s
Comments:

I had a pretty good transition. The transition is just under 1/4 mile from the lake so be prepared.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Bike
  • 1h 08m 5s
  • 22.99 miles
  • 20.26 mile/hr
Comments:

Pretty fast bike. Flat course. It felt great but I pushed too hard and screwed myself over on the run. Bike is a 37K.
What would you do differently?:

Don't go as fast because I didn't save enough for the run.
Transition 2
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

Fastest transition I have had. Practice pays off.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 1h 08m 31s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 11m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

I bonked on the run. I pushed to ohard on the bike and didn't leave enough in the tank for the run. I wanted to do a 10min mile but all I could muster was an 11min mile. The course is out in the open so bring sunscrean and a visor. Make sure to drink at the water stations. They had water at around every mile. I had practiced many bricks an knew my magic number on the bike was 19mph average. I didn't follow my plan and screwed up my run. Goal time was under 3:10 and I beat that by 9 minutes, I consider that a success. My original Olympic pr is 3:26 so I am very happy (even though it was a 37K bike).
What would you do differently?:

Going to try some Hammer Anti-fatigue caps. Don't push as hard on the bike.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Going too fast on the bike made my run slow. I want to try some anti-fatigue caps the reduce the acid build up in my legs.

Event comments:

Great race setup. I like the time trial start but would prefer it going by age group so you know who to pace with. After race events were nothing spectacular but for the amount of people that races, I feel they had just enough. I couldn't stay for awards because of a family illness and got 3rd place in my age group. I got a prize but I think you have to send them $10 in order for them to send it to them.
