Run
Comments: I had a big break from running in Nov/Dec so I didn't have a lot of long runs leading up to the event. I knew this so I tried to take it a little easier. I ran "comfortable", but probably still a little too fast. I found myself trying to get through traffic-I was in a middle corral- as opposed to go with the flow early on. I didn't have a lot in the tank at the end and it slowed me down. The temperature may have had a little to do with it too, but I'm pretty acclimated. What would you do differently?: WDW probably isn't the event to run a PR at. This is more of an event to take it it, have fun, and take pictures. I would concentrate on fun more than pace next time...... There will be a next time. Great event. Post race
Warm down: Walking and stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: The break in training near the event. Nothing I could do, it was a family type event that was unforeseen and unavoidable. Life priorities kind of stuff. Event comments: Great event. This was my second. Like anything Disney, it was first class and organized. This is a great fun event. If I was to ever suggest an event to run a first marathon at, it would be this one. Woke up around 0230. Peanut butter, banana, and honey sandwich and some coffee for breakfast. On the bus around 0315. All of my gear was laid out the night before. Soso night sleep, but that's normal for me, especially considering it's a family weekend. Walked around a lot in the pre race area, but got to my corral early. Stretched and relaxed until the National Anthem.
Mostly walking and stretching. Took the first few miles easy to w/m.
