Swim
What would you do differently?: I should have swam harder. My problem is that I always worry about late race fatigue, so never really give this my all! For Racine, I'm definitely going all out. Transition 1
Comments: Big mistake in T1 --- didn't consider my jersey being a problem while my body was wet! I probably lost 30 - 45 seconds in T1 messing around with the jersey. Lesson learned What would you do differently?: Put my jersey on under my wetsuit. Bike
Comments: stayed in my HR per the RX'd plan. Nothing to do here except get stronger over time. What would you do differently?: Definitely would have taken in more fluids. Only got through 1/2 my plan fuel Transition 2
Comments: Executed this per the plan. Not sure I could have moved much faster through T2. I had a great location (right by swim in and bike in). So no complaints!!!! Run
Comments: Again, my HR stayed in the RX zones as planned. Couldn't have done much more other than do a better job of improving my HR. I'll get there...going to take time. Post race
Warm down: nearly vomited in water vats. :-) kinda just hung around the finish line to get my wits about me again. Took a bit more time than expected. This tells me that I did everything I could do today! What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat was definitely a limiting factor in this race. I lost over 45 seconds per mile on the run due to the heat and humidity. Event comments: This is a great venue for a great race. The only suggestion made was to have an aid station on the gravel travel. It was stuffy and hot back there. :-) Last updated: 2012-10-30 12:00 AM

Pre-race routine was typical. Cup of coffee to get the day started. Make sure everything was in order and we headed to the venue. Got a great parking spot. Pre-race meal was 8 OZ of load/reload and a banana. Several potty breaks and 3 imodium later and I'm finally ready to head in to transition to set up.
spent quite a bit of time stretching my calves to avoid any foot arch cramping. Worked like a charm. Took my gel, salt tablet and 5-round about an hour before race start. Gel and salt may have been a bit early, but transition closed and I didn't want to carry all the goods to the swim start.
