Pre-race routine:

Got to venue nice and early although changeable weather conditions meant it was not easy to decide exactly what clothes to get ready. Began to rain heavy near start time.

started with 4 in lane, 5 secs gap. Caught lady in front of me quite quickly, but was not caught by other two swimmers and had half length advantage by end.

The course conditions were extreme. The wind was gusting and heavy rain made it really difficult to see where you were going.

try to stay warm with coffee...burger king helped too.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I have been either ill or injured since November, including a chest infection infection in the past few weeks

Event comments:

The bike route is busy at the best of times, but with the spray from the lorries thundering past and the wind and poor visibility, it made it all quite unnerving
