Lake Mills Triathlon
72F / 22C
Sunny
Total Time = 1h 39m 45s
Overall Rank = 545/669
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 10/22
Event warmup:

I swam a little bit in the lake to get used to the wetsuit and the water temp.
Swim
  • 09m 44s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

I was getting over a cold so my nose became really runny once I started swimming. It was harder to breathe than normal because of all of the flem and I ended up breathing every 2 strokes instead of 3 like I usually do. It was kind of difficult not having more boueys on the course for navigating as well.
What would you do differently?:

Not sure. I am hoping my breathing will be better once I am over my cold.
Transition 1
  • 02m 44s
Comments:

My heels got a little stuck in my wetsuit, but other than that I just need to work on getting faster at my transitions.
What would you do differently?:

I won't put my biking gloves on next time to save a few seconds....It's a short enough race that it shouldn't be a problem.
Bike
  • 51h 24m
  • 15 miles
  • 0.29 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike course was really nice and the weather really helped.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I was very comfortable on the bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

I didn't realize my transitions were as slow as they were. I didn't feel slow during it :)
What would you do differently?:

Just work on a quicker transition
Run
  • 34m 14s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

During the first 5 minutes of the run I had a "snot attack". I had trouble breathing, but not because I was tired, because i was choking on my flem...it was gross :) Luckily I had brought along kleenex so I was able to blow most of it out. Then one of my contacts fell out and I was able to catch it and put it back in. By the first mile I was all better and the rest of the run felt really good. And the week before was the first time I was able to run actually normal. I finally was recovering from my pulled hip flexor so training for the run was more difficult than I would have liked. So considering the limited amount of running I was able to get in before the race, I was very pleased with my time!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing....just get over my cold
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

I was getting over a cold, so just the amount of flem I had :)

Event comments:

I thought this was an awesome race! I was really happy with how I did considering I was sick a few days before and getting over a cold. I felt so good when I was done!
