Pre-race routine:

The usual carnation instant breakfast with milk for breakfast. Drove over to my Mom's house to drop of the kids and then walked/jogged from there to the event sign in area.
Event warmup:

Walked over to the 10 mile start area to wish some friends good luck and then headed back to the 3 mile start. Mostly visited with friends and walked in place a bit.

Comments:

I started a little too far back and had to work through the crowd a bit after the start.
What would you do differently?:

Start closer to the front to avoid playing "catch up" during the race.
Post race
Warm down:

Grabbed water and fruit then walked back along the course to cheer my wife on as she finished.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitness level and bad start

Event comments:

A fun (bigger) local race. I will run this again next year.

Course: Across the Diestelhorst Bridge and then a right turn onto the south side of the Sacramento River Trail. Mostly flat out to the turnaround and back. Across the bridge and around underneath to finish in front of the concrete steps next to the river.
