Overcast
Total Time = 1h 22m 31s
Overall Rank = 151/700
Age Group = M CLYDESALE
Age Group Rank = 9/68
Pre-race routine:

SET UP TRANSITION AREA- INSPECTED TRANSITION AREA. ATE A CINN RAISIN BAGEL, DRANK SOME WATER AND GATORADE. FOUND AND TALKED TO A FEW PEOPLE. HIT THE JOHN
Event warmup:

STRETCHED FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES.
Swim
  • 11m 24s
  • 528 yards
  • 02m 10s / 100 yards
Comments:

THE FIRST 2 MINUTES OF THE SWIM I HAD A STRIKING PAIN IN MY SHOULDER LIKE A PINCHED NERVE. I STILL PASSED A LOT OF PEOPLE AND DID NOT FADE TOO MUCH. I BOUGHT TOTAL IMMERSION SO I THINK I CAN GET REALLY GOOD AT THE SWIM
What would you do differently?:

I USUALLY GET IN A QUICK SWIM AS PART OF THE WARM UP- THAT WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME TIME TO WORK OUT THAT PINCHED NERVE- WORK ON FORM ALSO
Transition 1
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

I FIDDLED WITH MY HELMET AND SHOES A LITTLE TOO LONG- I COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN 30 SECOND FASTER
What would you do differently?:

I NEED TO PRACTICE TRANSITION MORE- NOW I SEE HOW IT CAN REALLY AFFECT TOTAL TIME. I NEED TO PRACTICE IT AT EACH RACE BEFORE THE RACE
Bike
  • 40m 3s
  • 13 miles
  • 19.48 mile/hr
Comments:

I HAMMERED MY HEART OUT- ALMOST TO THE POINT THAT I ALMOST STARTED TO FADE THE LAST MILE. I PASSED A LOT OF PEOPLE AND DOWNED A WHOLE 28 OZ OF GATORADE. I HAVE SHOWN THE MOST IMPROVEMENT ON THE BIKE AND AM VERY PLEASED WITH THIS RESULT.
What would you do differently?:

I CAN HONESTLY SAY I RAN THE BEST EVENT I COULD RUN THIS TIME- ONLY KEEP PRACTICING AND GET FASTER- AND GET A FASTER BIKE!
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

TOOK A COUPLE EXTRA SECONDS FIDDLING WITH SHOES- PLUS I WAS WORE OUT FROM THE BIKE- HAD TO FIDDLE WITH RACKING THE BIKE ALSO
What would you do differently?:

PRACTICE THE TRANSITION
Run
  • 27m 53s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

I REALLY THOUGHT I RAN SLOWER THAN I DID SO I WAS PLEASANTLY SUPRISED WITH THE FINAL TIME. I HAD NOTHING LEFT IN THE TANK BY THE END OF THE RUN
What would you do differently?:

THIS IS MY WEAKEST EVENT IN SPITE OF SPENDING THE MOST TIME TRAINING IN THE RUN. I NEED TO START CHANGING UP MY RUN TRAINING.
OTHERWISE I WAS PRETTY HAPPY WITH MY PERFORMANCE- I WAS ONLY 1 MINUTE SLOWER THAN MY 5K RECORD- THAT WAS WITHOUT THE BIKE AND SWIM BEFORE
Post race
Warm down:

WALKED AROUND AND ATE A BANANA AND PIZZA. DRANK SOME WATER AND GATORADE. PACKED UP THE TRANSITION AREA AND SHLEPED IT BACK TO THE CAR. CAME BACK AND GOT A MASSAGE

What limited your ability to perform faster:

REALLY NOTHING. I JUST NEED TO LOSE SOME WEIGHT. THAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY MAKE ME FASTER, AND CONTINUE TO TRAIN HARD

Event comments:

THIS IS THE BEST EVENT I HAVE SEEN. IT WAS WELL ORGANIZED WITH PLENTY OF VOLUNTEERS. POST RACE FOOD AND DRINKS WERE GREAT. THE MUSIC WAS EVEN GOOD. I COMMEND THE ORGANIZERS FOR A DOING GREAT JOB!
