Pre-race routine:

Got up and went to weight watchers. Post a loss - woot! Came home, got changed for racing, brought plenty of layers just in case. Ate wheat toast with peanut butter. Drank water on the way to race. Got to race, picked up race number.
Event warmup:

Ran 6 miles @ 10 min/mile pace, as part of long run for HM training. Usually I "warm up" for a race by walking to the portapotty!

Comments:

I wasn't expecting much of anything, given that this was the second portion of a 10 mile training run. The plan was just to get miles in, in a fun way. I was very surprised by how strong I stayed. I actually thought I was holding a steady pace for the first 3 miles, so I"m surprised how much we picked up the pace. We were even singing during the first 2 miles! Me and my friend know how to have fun when we run. I wore my iPHone on my arm and we had our own mini ROck n' Roll race. WE picked up some guy who was struggling for a bit and entertained him :)

The last mile, I knew I was pushing harder, and I just wanted to keep it going until the end. My friend said we could back off for the last mile, and I said, no I want to try to hold this! No more singing, I wasn't really talking, I was just focusing on staying steady and covering ground. I was realy looking forward to finishing! THe last part of the race, where the start/finish line was, was on a little side street, so you turned the corner and had like 100m to the finish. I told Becky, when we round that corner, we're dropping the hammer. We sprinted to the finish.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I'm very happy with the race I ran.
Post race
Warm down:

got water, cheered on my stepmom (her longest race ever!) then walked back to the car, stretched, went to horseback riding.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just running 6 miles before the race.

Event comments:

2 beer tickets (I ended up not using, because had to go ride horses), nice tech shirt, easy location, lots of volunteers. It was a great lil race!
