Pre-race routine:

Woke up early, ate my pre-race bagel, stopped on the way to use a Mcdonalds restroom to avoid the portapotty. Found a parking spot close to start/finish that I would be able to get out while the other races where still starting.
Event warmup:

Stayed in car until 15min before start of race, made my way down to race start setup mapmyride and music for the run, took my pre-race caffeine pill to ward off fatigue.

Comments:

I managed a 2:00 half exactly which is a PR as well.

Overall, I think I left 10min out on the course, next race will have to PR again, because I could have fought through it a little more and been a little more prepared. Need to invest in some better cold weather gear.
What would you do differently?:

More long runs to get use to the last 6 miles. Also I started running outside more, and I think that helped me get through the first half really easily.
Post race
Warm down:

Had to have a volunteer at the finish open my water bottle and chocolate milk because my hands were frozen. Ate a half a bagel and cookie while stretching and walking. Made my way to the car, turned the heat on heated seats on to warm-up. Rubbed down my legs, continued to stretch.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My IT band issues at the 14-15 mile mark, then quad issues after 22m mark. Endurance wasn't an issue, legs just couldn't deal with the pounding at the end.

Event comments:

Didn't stick around to watch an of the kids race because I had previous engagement to get to. I was pleased with the number of volunteers out on the course, to keep everyone directed and on course. With as many turns as there was they were needed.

Performance: Good
Due to the excessive rain leading up to the race the course had to be changed. They couldn't use the alternate course because of road construction so they had to whip together another alternate. Not sure if the mileage was accurate or not. My gps indicated that it was 26.93 miles. Carried my 5 gels and two water bottles on my race belt. Ended up only using three of the gels but did re-fill my water bottle twice, while on course at aid stations.
Course: Course was a double loop for the full marathon, running through neighbor hoods. It was actually really nice, to see that side of town for a change. During the first 6m or so got with a group of 4 other guys and listened to them chatting, tried to use them as a pace group as well as wind shield. When I past the 12m mark there was a big gap in front and behind me so it was like I was running all by myself. Not real helpful when the wind was blowing. This lasted past the half way point until about the 14-15m mark where the half marathon people were coming back from one of the neighbor hood loops, when I started to see them I was re-energized by their efforts and it kept me going strong, even though my IT band had started to flare up. Just kept pushing through. Coming up to an aid station I took my gloves off to refill my water bottle and kept running while doing so, when I went to put my gloves back on one was missing, so at that point I throw the other one away. Big mistake, should have kept it and just kept switching hands. By the end of the race that really became an issue, my hand were frozen, took a long time before I really got any feeling back.
