Pre-race routine:

today kicked ass. i woke up to a sooper bad thunderstorm, thought about bailing and decided against it, i needed my g8r fix. picke up my new training pal and it rained the entire time we drove, until we arrived and it was dry. nice. picked up the packet, saw what the elite runners do (my new pal is a sponsored kick ass tri guy) before the race(hang out in office buildings while the rest of us slow SOB's stand in the wind. met up with the rest of the gang, lost the car... TWICE and had to run, and i mean run, my ass back to the starting line. found the group again and was ready to roll.
Event warmup:

running to and fro, and fro and to (lost the car) 15 minutes later, i'm ready to race, was prolly a good thing though.

Comments:

this run is usual a bad run for me, i don't train hills and it is ALWAYS hot and humid, no exception this year. but for some reason i felt great and had a decent time for the course.
What would you do differently?:

not much. would have liked to be OFFICIALLY under 8's but i planned on 8:40's so...yay me.
Post race
Warm down:

we ran walked the 5k! needed to get some more mileage in:)

Event comments:

this is one of the best races i've ever done. over 8000 in the 10 mile alone and there are 4 other races! excellent volunteers the community really supports this thing and are so happy to be out there. they really make flint michigan look good, which is pretty hard to do. wendi and i got our pictures takin with some stinky kenyans!! one of which earned a plaque i wonder if he was the one who ran a 44:37, yes that's right, FOR TEN MILES!
