Swim
Comments: rough rough rough. Wind was blowing and the chop was high. The temp wasn't too bad but the crisscrossing waves made swimming difficult. Added a good 5 min to my usual swim time. What would you do differently?: nothing to do Transition 1
Comments: long run on sand from shore to T1, hit the bathroom as well What would you do differently?: got to go, got to go! Bike
Comments: didn't hit the power numbers I usually do...roads are really quite rough in many places and there are many many turns so you are always turning into the wind. Was hoping for better. What would you do differently?: swim took some zip from the body Transition 2
Comments: good, swift T2 for me Run
Comments: pretty good HIM run for me. I was hoping for a bit better...more in the 1:45 range but I felt as good as I could. What would you do differently?: little less in fluids and gel Post race
Warm down: went right to med tent to sit and rest with ice and take in fluids. Hit a massage table for 40min, ate, cleaned up and went to awards for roll down. What limited your ability to perform faster: not spend 8 hrs on my feet 2 nights before! Event comments: always a good race, lots of space for transisitions and port race activities. Ok down side is road conditions. All in all, not my best...the concert cost me minutes for sure and my goal time was sub 5hr. I did get a Vegas slot with rolldown so happy with that! stretched, foam roll, some granola with Ensure. I was feeling a little sore from the 6 hrs I spent Friday night at Wrigley Field watching Pearl Jam. All the hrs on my feet didn't do me any favors but no way was I going to miss the show!
port o john then long walk to race start
