Pre-race routine:

Woke up around 6 a.m...had oatmeal and banana...was really hungry. Small glass of milk. Arrived at race site shortly after 7:15 or so....walked around, picked up chip and relaxed prior to race start.
Event warmup:

Walking prior to race to familiar self with race set up and start and finish.
Run
  • 42m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 13m 42s  min/mile
Comments:

I beat my 5K time from April by 40 seconds or so...and was much faster than I usually am in training. I could have pushed myself to run a little more and will still strive to reach a sub 40 minute 5K time.
What would you do differently?:

Don't be afraid to really push myself a little harder.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, had two bottles of water, a banana and half a bagel. Drank more water on the way home.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I paced myself at the start to avoid going out too fast. I should have increased the pace just a little bit when the pack thinned out.

Event comments:

Very well organized race and friendly volunteers. I will definitely do this race again.

There was only one drink station on the race...would have preferred two given the heat.

Course: Mostly flat with a downhill and uphill portion. Not too severe but tough in heat and humidity. Race took place in VERY NICE neighborhood...I guess this is how the other half live (mansions everywhere and more being built!).
