Run
Comments: I started out fast and when we made the first left toward the river I was already breathing hard. I tried to set into a pace that I could maintain through out the next two miles. I slowed a little and took longer strides which seemed to help. Weh we passed mile 2 and took the right turn on Elm st I was sucking wind and watching for EMS guys (just in case). I was along side some guy who I thought may be in my age group. My mind was saying to speed up at the end and pass him but he beat me to the punch and took off. I was passed by 2 or 3 others before I finally got in. Post race
Warm down: 2 beers and a turkey leg. Event comments: This is always a fun race. The chile cook off and beer was just some of the action. There were many venders selling the garbage food we all love. Ill be back next year. Last updated: 2013-01-17 12:00 AM

Picked up MAria at 9 and drove to Lumberton. We parked in the same lot as the previous 4 years and walked to packet pick up. It was cold and windy so we hung out in the truck until it was time to warm up.
I started with about 5 minutes of walking followed by a short 1 mile run. I ran slow and allowed the muscles to warm up, then did some stretching before the start.
