Swim
Comments: I had a lot of trouble finding my rhythm during the swim. It seemed like I was swimming "hard" instead of constant. Sighting went well. Went outside of the buoys as planned and didn't get caught in the traffic next to them. What would you do differently?: Work on comfort on OWS. I wasn't nervous, I just couldn't settle down. Transition 1
Comments: Long run to transition from the swim end. HITS provided strippers which were great. I pulled up on my QR wetsuit which should have opened the suit with the quick release but it didn't. I pulled down on the zipper and it travelled only about 8in then got stuck. Turned out that my tri top got stuck in the zipper and it jammed. The rest of T1 went well and according to plan. What would you do differently?: Get someone else to zip me up to make sure the tri top doesn't do that to the zipper again. Bike
Comments: Strong bike today. I may have pushed a little too hard, but I put in a good ride and ended up with a good pace for me. Overall, I couldn't ask for more. There was some ugly wind on the way back which effected me and the rest of the field. I made it through better than most I saw. Transition 2
Comments: Typical good transition. Started to cramp in my thighs when I was racking the bike. Run
Comments: Legs were pretty smoked on the run. I was fighting off cramps but I kept up a good pace. Typical training pace, didn't have enough in the legs for race pace. Regardless, it was plenty to make my goal. Good gut check run. Post race
Warm down: Walked around for a bit and stretched a little then hit the snack tent. Event comments: Super organized. Great staff. Wonderful volunteers. There were some minor course changes, but they were for the best and all turned out great. Both days were pushed back about 10min for better visibility. This is a great race. I'll be back next year for sure. Last updated: 2013-01-17 12:00 AM

I spent the day prior at the race site watching the Iron distance races. Packed my stuff the night before. Got up had a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee. Got to the race site a good hour and a half before start.
very little warmup. It was difficult to as there was a prerace meeting at the water's edge just before the race.
