Comments: went out too far, and overswam into the strongest current, then had to tack back. overshot the finishing buoy. What would you do differently?: use the tide more and trust it. Draft behind someone who knows what they are doing. sight more often. Transition 1
Comments: Haha. Took me literally 5mins to get out of my suit. Very frustrating. What would you do differently?: Either not wear it, or practice T1. Actually really need to practice. Bike
Comments: probably took it it a bit too cruisy. The T1 really lost me whole heap of time. What would you do differently?: I took it easy be ause I did not want ot push thr back too much. Need to learn to push through some pain during the cycle, and use the big gears. I am on too easy agear. Transition 2
Comments: almost fell of bike at dismount! What would you do differently?: This was my second effort at this distance and overall was much smoother than my first. Need confidence dismounting when moving and getting feet out of shoes whilst moving. Run
Comments: took it very easy due to the back issues, and just did a pretty light jog through it. The last km was the most difficult but iverall was happy tofinsh due to concerns I had with my back. What would you do differently?: need to pace abit faster in future events, to get around the 30min mark. Post race
Warm down: swim 100m What limited your ability to perform faster: back issues the last few days, and being a novice in events. The wetsuit was a major issue. Getting those things fixed would decrease my time by 10mins. which would give me atop 10 finish in my age geoup, which is my aim. Event comments: enjoyed it as a flat course. Actually had a sore back two days before the event. My back siezed up on the 4hr drive. did a swim 200m the day before and a quick dash on the bike which felt good, so thought I would give it a go and depending on how the bike went may not do the run.
Wore a wetsuit as there were reports of jellyfish in the olympic, and to support my back.
Walked up and down the banks of the river.
