Swim
Comments: Not bad...but think warming up in the pool would have helped. Was nervous/excited for my first Tri...so I started out too fast and started to run out of breath come the 2nd 200. But...passed 3 people once I got into my stroke rythm and better breathing rythm. Felt really strong after I caught my breath. Overall I'm happy with it. What would you do differently?: Warm up...start out a little slower/steadier. Transition 1
Comments: I don't yet have cleats for my bike....had my running shoes on that I had to tie (didn't use Yanks because I couldn't get the right tension for my runs...too new). I put on a jacket due to the temp and rain...was a bit chilly at 52 degrees and rain. Helmet fastener was being a pain and wouldn't close. What would you do differently?: Next time hope to have yanks and/or cleats and no need to put a jacket on for the bike. Should save a good bit of time. Bike
Comments: Rainy and wet. Was very conservative on my pace, especially on the turns and cornering because I didn't want to wipe out on the wet pavement. I was passed a few times, but then passed 2 or 3 so felt better and more confident toward the end of the bike segment. Legs did start getting a little tired on one of the steady inclines. What would you do differently?: Hopefully next time it will be dry so I can push a little harder and not worry so much on the turns. Transition 2
Comments: Must say that having the running shoes already on helped a great deal. All I had to do was rack my bike and take off my helmet. Ditched the jacket...rain felt good on the run and it would have restricted/overheated me. Grabbed sport beans and took a swig of water...was feeling like I needed something. Had good run take off from my spot. What would you do differently?: Take the sport beans with me. Run
Comments: Good run. Overall was pleased. Legs felt really tight/tired at the beginning but after a little over a mile in I got my groove and they loosened up. Felt really good the 2nd half of the run and even passed a couple people. Finished strong at the end and peformed at my 10K pace. What would you do differently?: Not start running with so many sport beans in my mouth. Might need to learn to like Gu (blech). Post race
Warm down: walked...really happy with my first Tri experience! What limited your ability to perform faster: Nerves at the start, no real swim warm up, and warriness about wet pavement. Event comments: Good race for my first time. I have lost my Triginity! Would definitely do this one again and hope to so I can see how I progress. Overall I am very happy with my results and look forward to continuing the training for the next one...I think it's love at first Tri :-). Last updated: 2013-01-29 12:00 AM

Went through transition and packed bag. Set up transition area in orderly fashion and mentally went through the order in my head. Tried to make sure shoes and and jacket were kept at least a little dry. Had a 2 honey stinger waffles...one at home...one after transition area set up.
Not much....stretching out of the water. Next time will get in the water and warm up...think that would have worked out my nerves and helped me get into my swim/stroke rythm prior to hopping in.
