Run
Comments: I treated this run as a training run, and tried to find my easy 8 min/mile pace. I ended up going a bit faster than that. The first couple miles were easy in that they were down hill a little bit, and I let myself use the gravity to my advantage. The first couple miles were also the hardest, in a sense, because my body was still like, whoa, what's going on. After mile two, and about half way through I felt pretty good. I was looking for the 4 mile marker, but I never saw it. I was going to turn up the speed a bit when I saw it. One of the volunteers eventually said there was about a half mile to go, so I tried to speed it up then. The first couple miles the pack sorted itself out, and there was a group of people that were all running together. In miles three and four, a few people started to pass me. In mile four, it started to turn uphill a bit, and I used that and my increase in speed to move back past a few people. Also, I passed three miles at 23:05, and I know that if had been running this as a 5k, I would have been able to beat my best 5k time of 22:22. That will come later. What would you do differently?: Seeing I was treating this as a training run, not much. Wearing a neck warmer might have been a nice addition, but it wasn't necessary. Post race
Warm down: Immediately went into the HS gym to warm up a little. After I got a little bit of heat back in my system (though honestly I had worked up a sweat on the run) I went back outside for a short walk. Event comments: It was a good run. I'd do it again next year. This is a good one to do with friends. Last updated: 2013-02-03 12:00 AM

Stretched inside the high school and then went outside for a walk about a half hour before the run. But it was cold enough that a walk wasn't desirable, and so I jogged for a bit, and then came back inside.
