Swim
Comments: Hit the water and was gassed. I was still able to pass quite a few people in the water. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Coming in from the run I was amped! I ran the best 5k I have in a long time. My track work is starting to pay off. I didn't set up my shoes correctly and had a hard time getting the straps open (velcro). It felt like I was in transition FOREVER! When I finally got out I was ready to rock on the bike. What would you do differently?: Get my shoes ready before hand. Didn't even cross my mind. Bike
Comments: Got out onto the runway and started cranking. I was expecting to go faster but I think the run took more out of me than I expected. Still felt strong. A little wind here and there but nothing to really worry about. 3 loops on the runway and onto the swim! What would you do differently?: More time to train on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Quick transition. Long run to the pool makes for a majority of the time here. Run
Comments: I was planning on running with a friend of mine that ended up separating from me due to having to weave through slow people at the beginning of the run. Got into a good pace and found some faster people to pace off of. Running is by far my worst event and I am getting better and better each time I race. I had a good mental approach to this run and ended up pretty much keeping my average pace the same throughout. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Felt strong. Post race
Warm down: Hung out in the transition area and watched the second wave of athletes come through. Got some food and took off. What limited your ability to perform faster: Training at or around my LT threshold. I need a few hard, intense training rides or trainer rides to help with that. I am slowly working back from being severely over trained in November of last year and it seems like when I started up again I was starting from rock bottom. I do feel good about my speed though. I've been working with a friend of mine on the track and I can tell in my long runs and tempo runs the difference in comfort. Event comments: Great event. 3rd year in a row doing this one. Will continue to do it. Last updated: 2013-02-12 12:00 AM

Got up at 4:30, showered, ate some oatmeal, drank some water and got on the road. About a 1 hr drive to the base and wanted to get there early to miss a majority of the traffic. This was my homeboys first Tri so I wanted to get him there early enough to help him set up his transition and let him take everything in before so he wouldn't feel overwhelmed.
Ran easy for about 10 minutes. Stretched out and changed into my racing stuff. Weather was perfect!
