Swim
Comments: Great swim for me. Open water practice and really hitting the pool hard helped. Couldn't see well once the 2nd bouy was rounded....sun was in my eyes and was running into other swimmers. But really felt good...picked up speed and was really comfortable in the water. Loved it! Transition 1
Comments: Really need to get cleats and spent too much time drying off...especially my feet...socks wouldn't go on and had a lot of debri from swim finish. What would you do differently?: dry off feet only. Dry off only feet....forget the rest. Bike
Comments: Was having a great, strong ride until the last 2 miles. As I hit one the last turns less than 2 miles from the Bike finish I ended up with a flat. Have NEVER changed a bike flat in my life....so was learning on the fly. After finally getting my the tube changed and new tube/tire in/on...my CO2 Cartridge wouldn't deploy :-(. Then proceeded to walk the bike the first mile and then jog it back the 2nd mile. I finished...but it wasn't pretty and I came in dead last in the bike segment because of that. What would you do differently?: I now know how to remove and replace the tire/tube and will practice filling the tube with the CO2 cartridge. I also have a mini pump for back-up. So....if it ever happens again, I'll be prepared. Transition 2
Comments: Ran with bike about a mile out from transition. Transition was good. Was already off the bike and didn't have to dismount. Racked the bike, put my number belt on and had a decent run. Run
Comments: Decent....tried to make up time from the run...but legs were a bit tired from stop and start. What would you do differently?: Not have a flat tire Post race
Warm down: cookies and water What limited your ability to perform faster: Flat tire Event comments: will be more prepared for a flat on the bike segment Last updated: 2013-02-24 12:00 AM
