Swim
Comments: The first leg was definitely uphill. I had a real hard time cathing my breath and putting stokes together. Wouldn't say I was near panic, but I definitely didn't feel comfortable. Running out into the waves was tough and need to learn to dive swim run dive swim, etc. After a while started to feel more comfortable and started passing people from the waves in front. Coming in through the breakers was another stuggle. When I went from being supported by 4 foot deep water to 6 inches of water in an instant my legs just laughed at me and I think I fell three times, must have looked like a total spaz coming in. Still finished well in my group and overall so I shouldn't be too hard on myself. What would you do differently?: Warmed up well for the run and bike, but not nearly enough for the swim. Next time get a few hundred yards in before the race. Transition 1
Comments: Stll can't get shoes on while riding. Large tansition area, room for 1600 for tomorrow's HIM. Overall getting fasted, First in group. What would you do differently?: Practice shoes while pedalling this winter on trainer. Learn running mount someday. Bike
Comments: That's right, of the fat/old guys who showed up this morning, I was the fastest fat/old guy on the bike. Very happy with my time, broke 20 mph for the first time during a race (added aerobaro since last race). No real climbs, just a short steep hill coming out of transition. Aft that I was pretty much in one gear and on the aerobars the whole time. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 2
Comments: Made final turn and got one foot out of shoe then the steep short downhill came up and couldn't control the bike as it acelerated to 30 mph with one hand and leaning to one side so I left the shoe on and ran to my trans area. Didn't rack the bike well, it fell off, put it back. Thought I was faster than this but the seconds add up. Run
Comments: Was really hoping for a better time than this, tried to hold a faster pace but couldn't, so the 25 min 5K will have to wait. Still not unhappy with the time What would you do differently?: nothing, train more I know running is my biggest weakness. Post race
Warm down: just kept walking around for awhile. Event comments: Good race, really good expo. Last updated: 2006-06-15 12:00 AM
