Pre-race routine:

SOO nervous for my first race - woke up early and ate oatmeal...hopped in the car and drove to the site.
Event warmup:

Mini run and short swim. Too nervous and hot to do too much.

Comments:

Got a slow start and got stuck behind a slow group. Would have liked to have been more agressive, but I wasn't going to push it on my first race. Couldn't find anyone to draft off of too well. Boys and nav were ok.
What would you do differently?:

Practice more in open water (as always!)

Passing ppl was a great buzz - opposite for getting passed of course

Warm down:

Basked in the glow of not finishing totally last! I will always wear my Red Sox Visor cause at the end all I heard was "Go Sox" and "Yeah Boston" at the finish :)

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat, water, carbs...need more practice...

I think I'm hooked!!! Everyone was so helpful and encouraging. Mad props to the guy whose bike broke but gave me the thumbs up as I rode by - I felt your pain...thanks for the encouragement.

Hit the wall - I was hot and didn't have enough energy. Could have pushed through it mentally but I didn't want to totally overheat. I was most disappointed in this part of the race. Learned a lot for next time. Also regretted the socks...my left foot was soaked in blood from a popped blister by the end of it!!
