Comments: Uncertain of my actual race position here. I was 3rd overall out of the water in the M40+ wave, right behind the first two people. Unfortunately I didn't stop my watch, and then I hurt my calf and didn't stop the watch until much later due to this. I also didn't make it into the T1 area for quite some time due to this. What would you do differently?: Not injure my calf? Stretch out my legs more before warming up. Definitely pull the wetsuit off on my own, as the "stripper" didn't help me hardly at all, actually seemed to slow me down. Transition 1
Comments: Running to T1 is where I popped my left calf muscle. Unfortunately, I quickly determined I couldn't finish the race, which was a complete heartbreaker as I felt like I was going to do very well. Bike

Event comments: I felt very much like the volunteers had zero idea what to do with someone who got injured. The first few volunteers didn't know where the medical tent was. The doctor seemed in disarray. Evenutally they just sent me on my way with no clear plan on how to get my bike nor my bag from transition. Thankfully my sister and brother-in-law were there to insist on more, as I think the race organizers might have had me wait until after the race to get my things. Was pretty disappointing all around. I shudder to think what would've happened if my injury was more severe. Last updated: 2013-03-04 12:00 AM

Showed up early to get a good spot in my rack in transition.
Got in a light bike before heading down to the water. Unfortunately this race does not offer a lot of opportunities to warm up in the water, so I stood around watching the first waves of the HIM and Sprint go out before getting in for my wave.
