Comments: Ran in my New Balance HI REZ minimal shoes, felt light and my calves were well warmed up prior. I handled the hill pretty well. What would you do differently?: Line up in the 9 min/mile group rather than the back of the race. I spent lots of time and energy dodging slower runners for the first 1.5 miles. Still 29:06 is a 4:30 second improvement over last year's race, and a 5K PR by 1:51 seconds Post race
Warm down: Walked 1.5 miles to my brother in laws house, where out car was parked, should have stretched a bit more. What limited your ability to perform faster: Traffic at the start of the race. My long run limit is about 5 miles, my typical run is 3-4 miles. I was well hydrated and stretched, a bit more training may be the key. Event comments: This is THE race in South Bend, along with 10 K, Half and full marathons. It is a real fun time for runners/joggers/walkers of all ages!!! Last updated: 2013-03-08 12:00 AM

Jogged around the block 30 min prior, good lower body stretch, jogged around the block 3 minutes prior to race
