Swim
Comments: Good swim. Extra time in the pool is paying off working on technique What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Good transition. No issues. What would you do differently?: Nothing Bike
Comments: Decent bike. Didn't push too hard as I needed to save something for the run. I think I may have been passed once or twice by guys in my AG. What would you do differently?: Just have to keep training for speed and pushing that bigger gear. Transition 2
Comments: Not a bad transition. Struggled getting my shoes on, but overall it was decent. What would you do differently?: Run harder with bike. Run
Comments: Solid run. Passed a lot of guys in my age group. What would you do differently?: Keep doing the interval training. Post race
Warm down: Drank some fluids, walked around, waited to get my bike and gear What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. For me, I did fine and probably raced to my current abilities. Felt good about the mental focus and I pretty much kept the negative self talk at bay. Event comments: It's well organized, but the two lap bike format is an accident waiting to happen. Just too many bikes with too many slow folks out on the course. The reality is for many of the later age group competitors, you'll have to pass those same slow people twice. It was borderline dangerous. It was a fun event and there were lots of volunteers and a strong field, but I don't know if I'll do it again for the reasons noted above. Got up about 4:15. Had to be quiet as my wife was still asleep in the hotel room. Made some instant oatmeal and had that along with OJ and coffee. Headed out the door about 5:30
Was a little pressed for time as the walk and check in took longer than expected. Set up my gear and went for a short run. After that, got the wetsuit on and did a short swim to adjust to the water
