Total Time = 1h 21m 2s
Overall Rank = 15/552
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 2/24
Pre-race routine:

Check in, bathroom, stay warm in the car. Eat a GU 15 minutes before the gun.
Event warmup:

hop around a bit
Run
  • 1h 21m 2s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 06m 11s  min/mile
What would you do differently?:

I started out in a 6:30 pace group that immediately started slowing, so I had to push through windy no man's land to get to the consistently 6:20 pacers. That extra effort might have cost me on the back side...but not much.
Post race
Warm down:

doughnut holes and gatorade

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I could probably stick to a 6:15 group on the out, but without the group I had, 6:30 would have probably been impossible.

Event comments:

One aid station volunteer was only passing out water...the gatorade was on the table. I tried my best to grab on the fly, but knocked several cups over. Perhaps that enticed her to pass out both for the rest of the race.

Performance: Good
Averaged about 6:20 on the way out and 6 coming back There was a pretty decent headwind - 5-10mph constant, so I found a pack of 8 and we rotated into the front. Coming back was quite excellent with the tailwind.
Course: Out and back along the Snake River
