Swim
Comments: First time using a Wetsuit. Wow, can completely float. Swim felt very good. Had some difficult sighting and was all over the couse. A little leg wobble getting out of the water. Happy with Swim What would you do differently?: Know the course a little better. Will know the next time. Transition 1
Comments: Volunteers were great, They unzipped my top, and stripped my bottoms. Ran thru the warm shower, then on to T1 area. Now to prepare for the the changing temps on the bike. Start at 40, end at 60. I used my headsweat, fall/spring gloves, and bikegore jacket. Bike
Comments: First 10 miles, no problems. Mile 10-20 on the Highway, toes and legs were cold, seems to sap some energy, so just stayed in my zone ~18mph. Mile 20-30, headed into a slight headwind, just wanted to keep grinding legs a bit tight, ~16 mph. Mile 30-40, on the turnaround loop, no real issues. Mile 40 to end, tailwind! stayed relaxed and kept it at 20 mph. Got to unzip the jacket as it warmed up Back and legs got a little tight in the middle, otherwise not a bad ride. Oh, may need more food, was eating every 30 minutes, was getting light headed by the 30 minute mark. What would you do differently?: Food. Some stretching before getting on the bike. Transition 2
Comments: Indoor T2 with bike handler volunteers. Small delay on getting my T2 bag. it was nice to sit in a chair to change. Run
Comments: I can't believe how good I felt at the beginning of the run. First 4 miles were at 9min/mile. Then some head games, where was the turnaround? started to have to grind a little. turnaround at ~ mile 7, thought 10k to go. First time I let myself think I was actually going to finish a HIM. Got some energy from 7 to mile 10. 5k to go! keep going! Wheels fell off at 11.75 and had to walk. Look mile marker 12! no way I walk the last mile, sart running! got into the final stretch, started yelling and high fiving the volunteers and spectators. Saw my family with 50 yards to go! Thank You!! I DID IT!!! Post race
Warm down: Me, I'm a Fe/2 finisher! Big hug for my honey (I love you,, and thanks for the support). Beer and pizza! Event comments: Great race, Loved the Swim, Bike route is Good, The run course is Fantastic. Yes, I want to Tri B2B again! Last updated: 2013-03-17 12:00 AM
