Swim
Comments: Started very comfortable. About 200 yards in I swallowed some lake weeds and panicked a bit. Breast stroked for about 10-15 seconds to try to get composure and then got back at it. Water was cold but tolerable. What would you do differently?: There was alot of vegetation at the edge of the Lake....wish I would not have swallowed some of it. Transition 1
Comments: Decided to put on a zip up long sleeve jersey for the bike since the air temp was so cold. Hands were numb so struggled with that. Had terrible time getting wetsuit over the timing chip. I was 1:02 slower in T1 than the guy that won the AG....I was 2nd in AG by 27 seconds....too many transition errors What would you do differently?: Not get wetsuit stuck. T1 was pitiful! Bike
Comments: Started well and was passing alot of people. At the bottom of the first hill I shifted from big ring to small ring and dropped the chain. Got off the bike and fixed it but had no momentum heading up the hill. Tried to push a bit harder for the rest of the ride but never felt good. AP233/NP242 What would you do differently?: Not drop the chain. Looking back on data I lost about 45-50 seconds here. Transition 2
Comments: Lost time here to AG winner as well. Feet were really cold and numb so hard getting into shoes What would you do differently?: Practice more. More attention to detail Run
Comments: I knew I had to make up some ground. Coming out of T1 there was a guy in my AG 75 yards ahead so I tried to pace off of him and close the gap. Passed him about half way and pushed hard to keep him from going with me. Finished last mile hard. What would you do differently?: Nothing really. Good run for me. Especially since I'm still trying to get run form back after calf problems Post race
Warm down: Hung out and visited with teammates and friends. 1.5 mile cool down run. Had some food and hung around for awards. What limited your ability to perform faster: Gave away too much time that was non-performance related. Chain thing can happen but I should have been smarter in my shifting to avoid it. Transition issues need to be fixed. Should not complain since I essentially trained through this race with Galveston 70.3 being a priority the following weekend Event comments: Very well run race. Draws alot of strong racers with the early season date. Beautiful venue. Last updated: 2013-03-27 12:00 AM

Short run with strides and stretching. Short swim in the COLD water before beginning to get acclimated to temp.
