Swim
Comments: Had significat trouble relaxing and getting my face into the water to maximize efficiency. Ended up breast stroking more than I would have liked - tired me out pretty quick. Also, felt uncomfortable with the wetsuit around my neck. What would you do differently?: Try to relax on the swim and get my face into the water for an efficient crawl. Transition 1
Comments: Transition times were not calculated separately and are included in the bike segment. What would you do differently?: I felt that the transition was pretty smooth and quick. Had my wetsuit off very quickly and shoes on faster than last time. Changing my bike shoes to ones with rubber soles helped immensely in running the bike in and out of the transition area. The old shoes (hard bottom) felt very slippery in the wet transition areas. Bike
Comments: Felt good on the ride. My legs were very tired since I used them in the swim too much. The hill was tough, but short. What would you do differently?: Use legs less on the swim so as not to exhaust them for the bike and run. Transition 2
Comments: Transition times were not calculated separately and are included in the bike segment. What would you do differently?: Need to practice jumping off the moving bike with jello legs. Still a bit unstable just off the bike. Run
Comments: Hard run for me because I exhausted my legs on the swim. Had to run/walk. What would you do differently?: Train harder on the run and transition runs. Be careful not to overuse my legs on the swim. Post race
Warm down: Walked and stretched while waiting for friends to finish. Drank plenty of water and ate a banana. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough consistent training on the bike or run. Event comments: I will do this race again next year. It was a fun course with nice post race events. The locale of the race is incredibly convenient and I enjoyed it. Aiming to know five minutes off next year's time. Last updated: 2006-06-19 12:00 AM

Woke up about 5:30 am and met with friends before the race. Rode our bikes to the course and set up in the transition area. Ate a Power Bar and drank some water.
Streching and short swimming (mostly entry practice). Unfortunately, got a head but during warm up and ended up with a FAT lip just before the race started (ouch). Also, saw a fin in the water prior to entering which thank god turned out to be a dolphin. Had to keep reminding myself that dolphins are good.
