Swim
Comments: This swim was tough for me last year. It is an easy open water course, but I freaked out a bit. A year later, with a 5k ows behind me, this was no problem. What would you do differently?: Swim harder, sight less, kick more. Transition 1
Comments: The only place I can be mid-pack is in transitions. 135 out of 227. Woo hoo. What would you do differently?: Not much, except run to transition harder so that my swim time is more accurately reflected. Bike
Comments: Am I a runner or a triathlete? How can one be the worst at biking? What would you do differently?: Training time in the saddle, simple as that. Transition 2
Comments: Again, midpack for transition time! What would you do differently?: Run the bike to transition. Run
Comments: Someone ran slower? Must have been injured. What would you do differently?: Be lighter, run faster. Run. D the whole course without a spare sock jammed in my shoe, as opposed to leaving it there for two miles. Post race
Warm down: Pack up, thank everyone, pathetically ask if I actually got an AG award since the clydes were so few and I saw one drop out. (Some late registrations came in, so...no.) What limited your ability to perform faster: Wind, obesity, poor form, mental blocks, under training. You name it, I've got it. ROAD TRIP! Pre-race was a day long geekfest with my road trip buddy Dennis. Ironman 3 in IMAX 3D, then free comic book day, and some table top gaming later. As this is the second year in a row with a similar road trip on May 4, I suppose it's a routine now.
Wake up and pack.
